Ranimahal (Rani Mahal) is a historic palace located on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River in Palpa District, Nepal. It is often referred to as the "Taj Mahal of Nepal" because it was built as a symbol of love.
History of Ranimahal
- Ranimahal was constructed in 1893 AD (1950 BS) by General Khadga Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana in memory of his beloved wife, Tej Kumari Devi.
- After her passing, he built this palace as a tribute to their love, similar to how Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal for his wife.
- The palace was abandoned for many years but has recently been restored and is now a popular tourist destination.
